QBQ 2 - ALL ABOUT LOVE

Sometimes I listen to young people define true love and I realize that most of them still don’t get it. True love is quite far from the chemistry the both of you have, or that electrifying effect you feel whenever he or she is around you, or the chills that run through your spine whenever you feel his or her arms around you. It is much more than that, and weighs a whole lot more. True love is sacrifice, true love is selfless. True love derives joy and satisfaction in seeing the other person thrive, even if he or she is not in the picture. True love rejoices in the other party’s happiness and achievements and looks forward to contributing more towards it. True love is committed, consistent and determined in seeing whatever that is being built grow and yield fruits. True love never gives up! If you really want to learn about true love, there is only one place I know and that’s the bible. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." And the One who is love Himself has showed us a huge example by giving up His only son, just so that we can stand tall today with our heads held high. Yes, He made that sacrifice because of the love He has for us. So true love does not focus solely on one’s gain, but that of the other person. If you cannot give up something that means the world to you, just to make him/her happy and fulfilled…then my dear, you have not truly loved. Sometimes its not always very easy, but believe me its gonna be worth it in the end. After all, that what the world needs right now – Love. And remember, without God no one can truly love for God is Love.
