QBQ 12 - A TOUGH ONE IT IS, BUT WORTH IT!

Have you ever been in an argument where it begins to get intense and you have a lot in your head to voice out, but you decide to make that difficult decision to remain silence. It gets even worse when your ‘opponent’ takes your silence to mean weakness and leverages on it to say more hurtful things to you. At this point, every fiber of your being just wants to burst out…you just wish you could make every part of your body begin to function as your mouth. But still, you stand firm on that ‘annoying’ decision to keep mute just because it is the right thing to do. Whenever I find myself in such situations, I begin to imagine how it was for Christ during His trial…He was spat on, flogged, slapped, trampled on…yet, He kept silent and forgave. Even though our daily prayer goes, ‘Lord, make me more Christ-like’, I must admit this is one of the most difficult things to emulate. Sometimes, I even break down in tears for not having to pour my anger out in words the way I want to…but in the end, I’m always happy I stuck with the decision to be quiet cos things have a way of turning around later on to work in my favor. Let the words of your mouth be acceptable to God, it should bring grace to the hearers and edify souls. It doesn’t matter if they mistake you for being foolish, you know who you are! And like my first grade teacher would always say, ‘empty vessels make the loudest noise.’
